Objectives

St. John provides One Day First Aid Refresher Course for applicants who require to renew their "Certificate in First Aid". These refresher courses are arranged on Saturdays or Sundays with practical sessions on Bandaging and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation. Applicants are advised to revise First Aid theories on their own.

Entry Requirement

  1. For valid "Certificate in First Aid" Holders only




Charges
  1. Individual application
    • HK$130 per candidate and equipment maintenance fee, exclude certificate* and postage for sending the certificate by post) (applies before 1 June 2026)
    • HK$180 per candidate (including equipment maintenance fee, certificate* and postage for sending the certificate by post) (effective from 1 June 2026 onward)
  2. Organization/Group application
    • HK$130 per candidate and equipment maintenance fee, exclude certificate* and postage for sending the certificate by post to the organizer) with class size from 16 to 24 (applies before 1 June 2026)
    • HK$180 per candidate (including equipment maintenance fee, certificate * and postage for sending the certificate by post to the organizer) with class size from 16 to 24 (effective from 1 June 2026 onward)
  3. For course/examination conducted outside Hong Kong, a subsistence allowance of HK$500/day for each Lecturer and/or Examiner will be charged
  4. Examination may be conducted at the specified time/date/venue. An extra fee of HK$1,000 will be charged
  5. First Aid Course Manual ** (Candidates should purchase the first aid manual in the same language as the course)
    • HK$80/book (Chinese Edition) Published by Hong Kong St. John Ambulance; or
    • HK$210/book (English Edition). Prices are subject to adjustment according to the GBP exchange rate and transportation costs
  6. Bandages pack **
    • HK$38/pack
  7. Face shield **(The use of a face shield is mandatory during CPR training, effective from 1 June 2026 onward)
    • HK$10/2 pieces
  8. Issuance of certificate
    • HK$ 50/copy (applies before 1 June 2026)
  9. Re-issuance of certificate (if required)
    • HK$50/copy
  10. Brigade Member
    • HK$70 per member; HK$20/copy for Certificate

(Notes: * Certificates will be issued only to those who have completed the course, passed the examination, and met the certification requirements.

Course Duration

7 hours (usually held on Saturday/Sunday from 9:00a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)

Cantonese (English Class for group application only)




Examination

  1. Each candidate to the following subjects:
    - Theory of First Aid
    - Bandaging Technique
    - Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation
  2. Candidates, who failed in either one part of the Examination, can apply for the supplementary examination within 3 months from the date of the result announcement. Failures in 2 or 3 subjects are not eligible to sit for the supplementary examination.
  3. The result announcement date will be made known to the candidates during the examination. Candidates results through the Association counter, or through our enquiry hotline on 2524 8888, using their preset caller ID number(s). Candidates will not be informed individually of the examination results.




Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) Course

Nursing and healthcare related staff who completed One Day First Aid Refresher Course can be awarded with 2 CNE points.

  3. Candidate holding an expired "Certificate in First Aid" not more than 6 months can apply for the ODRC course

  6. Class will be cancelled if the Black Rainstorm Warning/Typhoon Signed No.8 or above is hoisted, and class will be resumed when the signal is lowered 2 hours before class commencement
