Objectives
- Targeted at Non-Chinese speaking who require First-Aid skills at work and wish to enhance their First-Aid skills and obtain a recognized First-Aid certificate
- To equip trainees with basic principles of First-Aid and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) to strengthen their techniques in performing basic First-Aid treatments
- To raise their consciousness of safety

(A) First Aid Training Module
- Principle and Practice of First Aid
- Making a diagnosis
- Psychological Impact after Injury
- Assessing a Casualty
- Demonstration and Practice on Bandaging (Arm Sling, Elevation Sling)
- Injury and Bleeding
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment
- First Aid Materials
- Demonstration and Practice on Bandaging
- Body Systems and their functions
- Circulatory Failure
- Nervous System and Loss of Consciousness
- Fractures
- Handling and Transportation of Casualty
- Burns and Scalds
- Respiratory System and Asphyxia (Choking, CPR)
- Demonstration and Practice on CPR
- Demonstration on Choking
- Recovery Position
- Written Test
- Practical Assessment

(B) Automated External Defibrillation Training Module
- Anatomy of the Heart
- Heart Rhythms during cardiac arrest
- Principles of AED
- AED Protocol
- Safety, Maintenance and Documentation
- Demonstration on AED
- Scenario Practice
- AED practical assessment
- Written test

Course Duration
37 hours (Half day or evening)

Certificate
Trainees will be awarded the First Aid Certificate, which is recognized by the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (valid for 3 years), if they have fulfilled the following requirements:
- Attain an attendance of 80% or above in First-Aid Training Module; and
- Pass all parts of assessment in First-Aid Training Module
Graduation Criteria
Trainees will be awarded the certificate issued by the Employees Retraining Board if they have fulfilled the requirements of modules (1) & (2) as listed below:
(1) First-Aid Training Module
- Attain an attendance of 80% or above in First-Aid Training Module; and
- Pass all parts of assessment in First-Aid Training Module; and
(2) Automated External Defibrillation (AED) Training Module
- Attain an attendance of 100% in AED Training Module; and
- Pass all parts of assessment in AED Training Module.
