  1. What number should I call for a free emergency ambulance service?
    The number for free St John emergency ambulance service is 1878 000 (24 hours).
  2. What are the office hours of the offices?
    • Association, Brigade and Council Offices:
      Mondays to Fridays from 8:30am to 6:18pm (offices closed during lunch hours from 12:45pm to 2:00pm except cashier counter at 4/F)
    • Youth Office:
      Mondays to Fridays from 9:00am to 6:48pm (office closed during lunch hours from 12:45pm to 2:00pm)
    • All Offices closed on Saturdays, Sundays & Public holidays

Course information

A) Application procedures
  1. Can I apply course during lunch hours?
    The cashier counter located at 4/F, St John Tower, 2 MacDonnell Road, Hong Kong opens during lunch hours.
  2. If I pay by cheque, who do I make it payable to?
    Please make cheque payable to "Hong Kong St John Ambulance".
  3. How can I make application for a course?
    Choice 1:
    To apply in person at Hong Kong St. John Ambulance Association, 4/F., St. John Tower, 2 MacDonnell Road, Hong Kong during office hours (we accept only Cash or Cheque or VISA (=/>HK$200) payments).
    Choice 2:
    To apply by mail along with a duly completed application form and crossed cheque sending to Hong Kong St. John Ambulance Association, 4/F., St. John Tower, 2 MacDonnell Road, Hong Kong. The application will be processed in about 14 working days.
    Choice 3:
    To apply by fax (fax no. 2976 0457) or by email (email:assn.pps@stjohn.org.hk), please also call 2530 8020 to 2530 8024, or email to assn.pps@stjohn.org.hk for obtaining PPS payment code. The applicant must settle the payment within two working days after receiving the PPS payment code. Otherwise, the application will not be accepted.

  4. Can I make course application at any of the St John Training Centers?
    No service counter is available at the Training Centers. In-person course application is only accepted at Hong Kong St. John Ambulance Association, 4/F., St. John Tower, 2 MacDonnell Road, Hong Kong.
  5. Can I apply course for other person?
    Yes, course application can be made by an authorized representative in a full version with signature.
  6. Apart from the course fee, are there any other charges for applying the First Aid Certificate course?
    Course applicants are suggested to purchase a pack of bandages and two pieces of face shields(For mouth to mouth resuscitation).
  7. How can I purchase course manual and bandages?
    If you have not purchased the course manual and bandages at registration, you can buy the items at Hong Kong St. John Ambulance Association, 4/F., St. John Tower, 2 MacDonnell Road, Hong Kong during office hours.
  8. My First Aid Certificate has expired, can I apply for the One Day Refresher Course?
    Course applicant holding an expired First Aid Certificate not more than 6 months can apply for the One Day Refresher Course.
B) Class attendance
  1. In case I could not attend the class, is there any make-up class?
    There is no make-up class. Failure to complete the course with attendance less than 80% at the same course is not allowed to attend the examination.
  2. If I am not able to attend the course, can I reschedule the course or have refund?
    Upon acceptance of application, refund or swap course will not be accepted. You can arrange to have your place substituted should you unable to attend the course by filling in the "Application Form for Replacement of Course Applicant" and notifying the Association at least 10 days prior to course commencement with $100 administration fee to be charged.
C) Examination results and certificates
  1. How can I check my result after result announcement?
    You may check your result  either 1) in person at our service counter: 4/F, St. John Tower,2 MacDonnell Road, Central or 2) through our enquiry hotline on 2524 4888, using their preset caller ID number(s), fast key is 1 1 1.
  2. How do I collect the certificates after I have passed the examination?
    If you are registered through an organization, the certificate must be collected by the organization.
    If you have registered individually, qualified candidates will receive the certificate by post around two weeks from the date of result announcement (Only applicable to Certificate in First Aid Course). For re-examination or any other reasons that require the re-issuance of certificates, a fee of HK$ 50/copy shall be applied.
    If you are a Brigade member, the certificate must be collected through the Brigade Office.
  3. Can I get the certificate by mail for other courses?
    For individual candidate, you can provide us the lower part of the "pink card" or the copy of your ID Card along with a crossed cheque with amount $80 (For ODRC/HDRC/BFA/AHN only) or $30 (For IFA/CPR/AED/AEDODRC/CPRAED/CPRAEDODRC/PETFA only) made payable to "Hong Kong St John Ambulance" sending to Hong Kong St. John Ambulance Association, 4/F., St. John Tower, 2 MacDonnell Road, Hong Kong. The application will be processed in about 14 working days.
  4. If I am not able to attend the examination, how do I apply for re-scheduling?
    Applicant must submit a completed "Re-Scheduling of Examination Application Form" with reasonable justification. Copies of supporting documents, such as Medical Certificate must be attached. Application with $50 administration fee must reach the Association Office within a month from the scheduled examination date.
  5. I have lost my First Aid Certificate, how can I get a new one?
    Choice 1:
    To apply in person at Hong Kong St. John Ambulance Association, 4/F., St. John Tower, 2 MacDonnell Road, Hong Kong during office hours. The certificate can be re-issued immediately. $50 administration fee will be charged.
    Choice 2:
    You can fill in a "Re-issue of Certificate Application Form" with $50 administration fee sending to Hong Kong St. John Ambulance Association, 4/F., St. John Tower, 2 MacDonnell Road, Hong Kong. A notification will be sending to you in about 14 working days. Please bring along the notification in person and collect the certificate at St. John Tower.
  6. If I have failed in one of the three subjects at the first aid examination, how do I apply for a supplementary examination?
    You can apply for a Half Day Refresher Course for the failed subject within 3 months from the date of the result announcement.
  7. If I am not able to attend the One Day Refresher Course, can I take the examination?
    You can take the examination even if you are not able to attend the course.
